Susan's Story
As a native Californian, my husband dragged me kicking and screaming to the not-so-great state of Texas. We settled in Houston and I love being close to downtown as they have a great cultural scene there..only 20 minutes away. In L A , no matter where you live it takes over an hour or hours to get anywhere. I'm also involved in a number of volunteer programs. I've always been that way if you recall. I was a lifelong Girl Scout, even in High School. Between our junior and senior year we took a trip to Mexico City, Taxco and Acapulco- so fun with 20 of my sister scouts. ntests but they weren't all were based on community service, speeches or other "good" works.
I got my AA from WLA, BS from San Diego State and my MS from Pepperdine.
I married George Carr a guy I met on the job when I was a Recrestion assistant at Venice Beach and he was the new Recreation Leader. I was the only female staff of 15. Life at Venice Beach in 1970-71 was most interesting and for a naive Catholuc School girl a real eye opener. Especially when City Council voted the VB was designated a "topless" beach. George and the other male staff never patrolled the beaches more during that 6 month period before City Council reversed their decision and the ladies had to put their tops on.
